Apply AI to aerospace design support, simulation insight and predictive maintenance — inside safety culture

RIA’s AI in Aeronautical track is for aerospace, mechanical and avionics learners who need applied AI on flight, structural and maintenance data.

Certification and safety constraints stay explicit: models assist engineers; they do not certify aircraft. Related: AI in Drones, Drone Engineering and AI in Semiconductor Design.

What you will learn

  • Aerospace systems and data sources
  • Flight, structural, and MRO datasets
  • Simulation result interpretation assist
  • Predictive maintenance for aircraft systems
  • Anomaly detection for health monitoring
  • Safety culture and certification literacy
  • Assumption and limitation write-ups
  • Mini-project with a maintenance or performance case

Common questions

  • Does this licence me as an aircraft engineer?

No. It is an applied AI specialization. Licensing and type ratings stay with the relevant aviation authorities and OEMs.

  • Is this the same as Drone Engineering or AI in Drones?

Drone Engineering is UAV design, electronics and flight control. AI in Drones is aerial vision and mission assist. This Aeronautical track is aerospace analytics, simulation insight and PdM — including manned aviation data patterns.

  • Do I need MATLAB or CFD first?

Helpful. We teach enough simulation literacy to use AI on results; deep CFD remains an engineering elective.

Skills you build

  • PdM and health-monitoring case construction
  • Aerospace dataset hygiene and feature thinking
  • Safety and compliance checklists for AI assists
  • Clear documentation of model limits

Who this is for

  • Aeronautical, avionics, and mechanical students
  • MRO, reliability, and quality analysts
  • Simulation engineers adding ML to result review
