Glass Painting

Outline and transparent colour

Glass painting in this studio is an outline and transparent colour on a prepared glass sheet or a small framed piece supplied in class. The outline holds the colour in its area. Glass edges can cut, so sheets stay on a cloth and are handled as the instructor shows. If a colour needs solvent, it is used in a ventilated room and kept off the skin. Learners from about 10 years of age may join. A parent or guardian enrols anyone under 18.

  • How an outline separates one colour from the next
  • A supplied drawing transferred, then the outline left to set
  • Transparent colour in flat areas, without flooding past the line
  • Care of the sheet: cloth on the table, no loose shards, hands washed after class
  • One small finished panel reviewed in the studio
